Kathmandu (Arrival) – Transfer to Hotel (Private Transfer)

Upon arrival in Kathmandu, the capital city of Nepal, our representative will be waiting at the airport for your welcome. Then board a private vehicle and be transferred to your hotel. Check into your hotel and rest after your journey. Your guide briefs about the Langtang Valley Trek.

Depending on your arrival time, you may have the opportunity to explore ancient temples and vibrant markets and experience the unique atmosphere of Nepalese urban life.

Kathmandu – Syabrubesi (Drive – Private Transfer)

After breakfast, you will start your journey by driving to Syabrubesi. The ride is full of stunning views of the Trishuli River, traditional towns, and terraced farms. You may enjoy breathtaking vistas of the Himalayan range, including Manasalu and Ganesh Himal if the weather is clear. You will travel towards Syabrubesi, a culturally diverse village. Here you may engage with the Tamang people and discover their customs and traditions. You keep following the Trishuli River.

Syabrubesi – Lama Hotel

Today your proper Langtang Valley Trek starts. You’ll start trekking from Syabrubesi towards the Lama Hotel. The trails walk along the Langtang River and BhoteKoshi River routes to begin your journey in Langtang National Park. The route passes up to Bamboo, passing through lush forests of rhododendrons and oak trees. On the way, you will enter the Langtang National Park, where you can witness red pandas, bears, and monkeys.

Lama Hotel – Langtang Village

The trail walk goes through rhododendron forests, and visitors to Langtang National Park. You may see local animals, including red pandas, white monkeys, and a few species of birds. You will witness breathtaking vistas of the LangtangLirung mountain on the route to Langtang Valley. You will reach the picturesque settlement of Langtang Valley. This combines Tamang and Tibetan cultures, after walking beside the small stream.

Explore the nearby monastery and interact with the friendly locals. After the 2015 earthquake devastated Langtang Valley, the locals have now constructed a tiny valley.

Langtang Village – Kyanjin Gompa

The journey continues toward a short walk towards the famous Buddhist monastery of KyanjiGompa. The trail offers breathtaking vistas of the Himalayan range, including DorjeLakpa, LangtangLirung, LangtangRi, and others. You trek through yak pastures, remote villages, streams, and moraines. One of the oldest Tibetan monasteries in Langtang, Kyanjin Gompa, is located after you pass through the rock cairns.

Kyanjin Gompa

Today, you will have a rest and exploration day in KyanjinGompa. You can visit the ancient KyajinGompa monastery to pray with other Buddhists. You can also trek up to KyanjinRi for a short distance to see the LangtangLirung, Tserko Peak, Yala Peak, and LangshishaRi peaks. You can also visit the cheese factory, where delicious yak cheese is produced. You can also explore and learn about the Tibetan culture of this region.

Kyanjin Gompa – Lama Hotel

After exploring the Langtang Valley and KyanjinGompa, you will descend towards the Lama Hotel. Lama Hotel is the common rest point on the Langtang Valley Trek. You will follow the same trail as we did earlier, which includes the Langtang River and lush forest on the way to Lama Hotel.

Lama Hotel – Syabrubesi

You will follow the same trails to Syabrubesi. The descent trail pass through forests and picturesque villages to reach Syabrubesi. It’s a great place to rest and prepare for your return to Kathmandu.

Syabrubesi – Kathmandu (Drive – Private Transfer)

After breakfast, you will start your journey by driving to Kathmandu. The 7-hour ride to Kathmandu will be filled with stunning views of the Trishuli River and scenic countryside. It provides an opportunity to enjoy the changing landscapes. After reaching Kathmandu, you will be escorted towards the hotel.

When To Visit

The Langtang Valley Trek is most enjoyable in the spring (March to May) and fall (September to November). During spring, the valley comes alive with vibrant rhododendron blooms, creating a picturesque landscape, and the weather is mild and clear, offering stunning views of the surrounding peaks. Autumn, with its stable weather and clear skies, provides excellent visibility of the majestic Langtang mountain range. The temperatures are moderate during both seasons, making trekking comfortable, and the trails are in their best condition. Winter (December to February) is very cold and brings the possibility of snow, while the monsoon season (June to August) brings heavy rainfall and potential trail disruptions, making these periods less favorable for the Langtang Valley Trek.

Are there emergency evacuation services available on the trek?

In case of emergencies, there are helicopter evacuation services available in the Langtang Valley region. However, these services can be expensive and are typically used for severe altitude sickness or other critical medical conditions. Travel insurance that covers helicopter evacuations are strongly recommended for trekkers.

What permits are required for the Langtang Valley trek?

Trekkers need a Langtang National Park entry permit, which can be obtained in Kathmandu or Dhunche, the starting point of the trek. An additional TIMS (Trekkers’ Information Management System) card is also required.

Are there ATMs on the Langtang Valley Trek route?

It’s advisable to carry sufficient cash as ATMs are not readily available along the trekking route. The last opportunity to withdraw cash is usually in Dhunche before starting the trek.

What clothing and gear are essential for the Langtang Valley trek?

Essential items include sturdy trekking boots, warm clothing layers, a good-quality backpack, a sleeping bag, and a down jacket. It’s crucial to be well-prepared for varying weather conditions, including rain and cold temperatures.
